Yoshio Taniguchi is an award-winning Japanese architect.  He studied engineering at Keio University, and studied architecture at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, graduating in 1964.  Taniguchi worked for the firm of famed architect Kenzo Tange from 1964 to 1972, acquiring skills in Japanese modernist architecture.
 
After, Taniguchi collaborated on several projects. In 1975, Taniguchi started his own architectural firm in Japan beginning his solo career on projects such as schools, libraries, and other public-use buildings throughout Japan.  In the 1980s he emerged as one of Japan's leading museum architects.  Taniguchi is known to restrict the number of projects he accepts so that he might better personally oversee the details of each job.
