The Cretto bowls pay homage to the three-dimensional and textural effects of the works of Alberto Burri, to which the product name alludes. Designed by Simona Cremascoli and made in a little artisan workshop in the heart of Umbria, they explore the expressive power of stoneware, a particular ceramic material.
The ceramic body is shaped manually at the potter’s wheel and then encased in slip, a clay cover that gives the object an alluring and natural appearance. The colours of the Cretto bowls, applied in stages, consist of ochre, brick red and brown on a grey base. They come in three sizes and two different, simple shapes: a half sphere and a quarter sphere. The Poltrona Frau logo is created by hand using an ink pad.
